Time to Make a Will
Why not take the “Make a Will” health check by answering the following questions:
1. Have you made a valid Will, if not, why not? One made at home may not be valid.
2. Have you recently married? If yes, did you know that marriage revokes a Will?
3. Have you children under 18? If yes, then it is your duty to make a will in order to protect their future.
4. Do you own a house, land, jewellery, car, bank account, shares or other property? If yes, then who would you pass them on to when you die?
5. Do you share a house with your partner? If yes, what rights will they have should you die?
6. Do you know what Capital Acquisitions Tax is? Are you aware of the tax free thresholds and the implications for your children, brother, sister, aunt, niece or nephew if they receive an inheritance from you?
Making a Will is easy, you do not need to bring anything, only yourself. It takes approximately half an hour to 45 minutes. Would you not prefer to spend that time now and have your affairs in order? By choosing not to make a valid will now, you can leave a litany of problems that might not be resolved for generations.
Here at O’Kelly Moylan Solicitors, we would be happy to help you make your Will. Contact us today on 065 9080000 to make an appointment.
The fee for arranging your Will is usually €50 to €150 plus VAT of 23%. It may be more than this if your estate is complex but that is the exception rather than the rule.
